Cordwainer – a word that doesn’t get used a lot, is the title for someone who makes shoes from new materials.

Cobbler – the word most people are more familiar with, is someone who makes and/or repairs shoes using second hand materials.  So that defines what I want to do, making shoes by reusing materials.  I’m exploring the materials that can be used and the design of shoes with a particular bent towards historical designs.

So this particular cobbler would like to make 100 pairs of shoes, and this is looking at that process.  I’ve taken short courses to make shoes, with Luna Newby, Andrew Robinson, Marlene Krantz and Brendan Dwyer but this is a move to consolidate and go deeper into the process and become a cobbler.
